Using this site, and sending your writing to it.

Daily Writing Practice is a community for true writing — real life, personal experience, reflection, observation and perspective. It is not a home for fiction. You need to be 16 or older to hold an account and to submit.

Accounts are free. Please keep your details accurate, keep your password to yourself, and use the site in a way that respects other writers.

Each certification is recorded separately, with the date and the terms version, so the record always reflects what you actually agreed to.

• The writing is your own original work and yours to submit.
• It is true writing based on real life, not fiction.
• You agree to these Submission Terms.
• If you include a photo: it is of you, it is yours to use, and it is suitable for a general readership.

You keep the copyright. Submitting gives Daily Writing Press permission to consider your piece — it never transfers ownership, and permission can be withdrawn at any time before publication.

Nothing is published automatically. A piece appears only if it is selected, and only in the places you ticked when you sent it:

• on the Daily Writing Practice website
• in email or newsletter
• in digital Daily Writing Press editions
• in printed Daily Writing Press editions
• as a short promotional excerpt
• on Daily Writing Practice social media channels — as a post, a quoted excerpt, or read aloud in audio or video

Social media is its own separate permission. If you leave that box unticked, your writing is never posted, quoted or read aloud on any social channel. Where a piece is shared, it carries the name you chose, or no name at all if you asked to be anonymous.

Every submission is read before anything happens to it. We may decline or remove writing that is not true writing, that is not the writer’s own, that exposes another person’s private details, or that is unsafe or unlawful. Editorial notes we keep are internal and are never shown to writers.

Light copy-editing for typography, spelling and length may happen before publication; the substance of your writing is never rewritten without asking you.

You can see everything you have sent in My Writing. To correct or remove a piece, a map pin, your mailing address or your whole account, write to us and we will take care of it. Removal from future publication is immediate; pieces already printed cannot be unprinted, but they will not be used again.

The site is offered as it is, without guarantees of availability. These terms may change — the version is stamped at the top of this page, and existing submissions keep the terms they were sent under.
